From the brewer

Not your average porter by any stretch. We took our old porter recipe that was hanging out in the 5% ABV range and jacked it up to 8%. Then, we push every ounce of this beer through American and French oak cubes to add some tannins and flavor to the big malty character of the beer. The end result is a well-balanced, big beer.

Who's been drinking this

Quite good though apparently mesquite smoking does wonders for this.
Roasted chocolate, medium bodied and a clean finish make this an awesome porter!
A good-tasting, thinnish porter. The wood character is a little hard to pin down at first - if anything, it comes across as a kind of disconnected smokiness - not bad, but it didn't harmonize with the flavor. Possibly this would have tasted less dry if I hadn't just had the malt-bomb scotch ale.
