Complexity. Aged for three months in Wild Turkey Bourbon barrels, this luxurious stout has a deep ebony hue and a beautiful mahogany head. The woody, vanilla-like notes imparted by the barrels mingle with aromas of fresh baked bread, toffee, and espresso and envelop the rich chocolate and roasted barley flavors with a fine bourbon character. I dunno. Maybe it’s me, but anything heavier than a lager doesn’t seem to go with Chinese food for me... which is a shame because this beer was pretty good. Just didn’t go well with dinner.
Thin stout with a light bourbon presence. Leaves no tackiness which is nice but doesn't have some more of the malt or bourbon characteristics that could be there instead.
This smelled really promising. The bourbon worked well in the flavor and was not as fiery as I would have expected with Wild Turkey. The overall flavor, though, was thinnish, unpleasantly sour, and the carbonation quite flat.
