Tart of Darkness is a traditional stout that we aged in used oak barrels from The Bruery that had previously housed beers such as Cuivre™ or Black Tuesday®. We then brought them over to Bruery Terreux, added our special blend of souring bacterias and wild yeasts and watched nature take its course. The result is a perfectly tart yet awesomely dark and roasty, sour stout. Not a style you will see very often, and in our opinion, not a style seen often enough. This unique stout has notes of tart plums, roasted coffee, vanilla and oak.

Super tart, sustained from start to finish. Sour stays on the lips. Subtle chocolate slips through on the finish.

This is very tart, which normally would be bad, but you happened to catch me in a transitional period. So like Sam Jackson, I'm gonna go easy on this.

This time it seems more classically sour than tart .Roy says it's very barrel aged, but I'm not noticing it . Also, Jet got a pour and shared, and his was totally tart like the first time I had this .So apparently it's totally variable .Which is weird .

This is very much on the tart end of sours. Heavy, near-apricot taste.

I think I'm starting to enjoy sours! A sour more than a stout, it present a mild sourness for a sour. It has a light sweetness and presents faint flavors of dark fruits. Ends on light stout flavors.

This is definitely a sour first, and a stout second. Opens smooth, slightly sweet, before jumping quickly to a bite of tartness. It's faintly pruney, although I wouldn't call this a fruity beer, and it moves towards more stouty characteristics as it finishes, smooth and malty again. I wouldn't go so far as to call this roasty, however.
