From the brewer

This bold and deliciously complex beer is an Imperial Buckwheat Stout aged in Tequila barrels for 13 months. Only a collection of pioneering, well seasoned, extensively traveled and passionate pub owners could come up with such a notion. Our carefully calculated collision of flavors was laid down in fresh Tequila barrels wrangled over our southern boarder. We simply call this beer "PNC" in honor of it's collaborating creators – the gothic symphony of flavors will speak for themselves.

Still extremely excellent. Chocolate, toffee, a little bit of fire on the finish, but overall very mellow.

Dream come true to get a new release of this, one of the first epic beers I ever tried. Did not disappoint. Smooth chocolate, incredibly smooth finish, medium sweet.

Unnnnngggggghhhhhh
2013 release
Warm full and syrupy bourbon aroma. Sweet cola tang with some finishing tack. Buckwheat cereal comes through just after initial sweetness. Not too heavy and good character.
2013 release
Changes so much over the course of a glass. Complex, spicy and still delicious.

Tangier bite than last time, though it was on draft. Pleasant wood aroma.

Honestly? Just as good out of the bottle as I remember it being on draft.

Impossibly black, with a great, complex spirit smell that turns to smooth inkiness on the tongue. Like most FW beers, on draft it's much mellower than 13.7% would lead you to expect. Nice bit of fire midway through the taste -- the tequila? One to savor slowly.
2013 release
Getting a malty maple pecan tang smell with alcohol burn. Smooth start, really nice middle, love the buckwheat presence. Some alcohol taste at end but pairs with the buckwheat. Pleasant aftertaste. Let it warm up a bit to increase the buckwheat taste but syrup finish will increase.
