From the brewer

A fortifying tonic for the People! Rich and smooth, Motherland is as black as a Siberian winter night but warming enough to weather it. Aromas of anise and cherry mingle with bittersweet chocolate flavors and a warming, spicy finish. Answer the call and raise a glass to the Motherland.

Who's been drinking this

Strong warm coffee with mocha and hopped cereal smell. Nice sour clean cereal start, thin body, smooth finish. Tastes like it smells, no surprises. Rich taste with some lingering richness.
Bottle
This is definitely a different beast than the other two stouts. It's got a thick malty sweetness more in the vein of a Czar or World Wide, although it also still has a noticeable roasted bitterness to it. I wish I'd had this out of the context of a flight of 15 beers! I probably would have enjoyed it more.
A tad too bitter. Delicious though.
Strong roasty coffe taste, doesn't hide its higher APV though.
