From the brewer
How does one brew with pumpkins that are local, fresh and at their sweet season peak ripeness… while still getting beer to you while you are interested in drinking Squashy Ales? Design a squash ale to be brewed around thanksgiving and aged in bourbon barrels. We did that then, this is now and here it is. Unlike our chocolatey pumpkin Imperial Stout of years past, Harbinger, Squashy Mc Bourbon face is caramel everything. From crystalline amber in the glass to the back of the palate, Squashy plays with toasty brunt notes and squash tannins. A definitive pumpkin sweetness presents and builds as harsh notes of flame licked pumpkin and toasted Turbinado hunker down. Balanced but bittered by the tannins in squash instead of purely hops, Squashy lives within the native flavors of fall. By the time you realize the leaves are falling the trees will be bare, as the past is now no longer the future.
Other notes
Bourbon barrel aged strong ale with toasted squash (pumpkin).
