From the brewer

A totem is an entity that watches over and represents a clan or tribe. Totem pale represents us well with its citrus hop flavor. The Totem Pale is built on a firm foundation of ESB and crystal malts with generous citrus hop additions. We believe that you will also want to make the Black Raven your totem.

Who's been drinking this

Malt on the nose. Has a ever so slight Smokey hint on the front. Finishes with the right amount of bitter for a pale. Well done.
Pale ale?!?! Madness this is clearly an IPA! I don't like getting an IPA when I'm expecting something else...
Draft at Bite of Seattle, Seattle
If you didn't tell me this wasn't an IPA, I would have thought this was an IPA. Resinous, bitter, unrelenting.
Light and floral with a hint of citrus and waaaayyy more bitter than I would expect of a mere pale.
