From the brewer

It was not until modern kilning of malts in the early 1800’s and the discovery of cold fermenting Lager strains in the 1840’s that allowed all the beautiful flavors of a Dunkel to come to life. Dunkel, including Chuckanut’s, are typically a deep reddish-brown color, capped by an impressively sturdy tan head. The lightly roasted, toffee, coffee, and even licorice notes are a direct result of the malts used. GABF Gold medal and World Beer Cup Gold medal.

Who's been drinking this

Thin sweetish cereal body with mild finish. Banana-funk touch on finish.
Sweet and malty, like an Oktoberfest, with a toasty lactic finish to give it that "dunkel" character. I liked that it had more body than other schwarzbiers I've had lately.
