From the brewer

This is a tasty Winter Ale to snuggle up to, released for the winter months when snow blankets the terrain of the mind and the body craves warmth and, let’s be honest, it’s dark and wet most of the time so your beer better be damn good. Winter Ale is dark like the weather with roast chocolate and warm malt flavors balanced by Noble hop aroma and subtle hoppy spice. Warm up to it.

Who's been drinking this

Decent take on winter ale. Smoke on the start and smooths out to a tasty chocolate finish.
Bottle
Quick body, little residue. Some nuttiness at the beginning, some tang, some acidic finish.
Can at Home
Has a sharp, rooty-barky finish reminiscent of birch or anise that I never really warmed up to. I guess I'll wait for the Bourbon version next time.
Mildly tangy with some mild sappy mouth feel like a sweet beer, but without being sweet.
