Syrupy smell. Syrupy caramel/toffee taste. Smooth with a faint bitter finish, mostly sweet draw.

Smooth, plenty of toffee. Plummy taste, with an ending that comes on strong with wood and pepper.

It says this is 31% Double DBA, and it tastes like it, very smooth and toffee-like with a strong chocolate foretaste, doesn't hide its alcohol content and ends with an English, grassy-hop bitterness. There's a lot to like in this beer, but also a kind of conflict of flavor that never quite resolves.

Not quite as good as some of the beers that make it up, but still excellent.
