Citrus with an underlying sweetness smell. Medium bodied but not heavy on the palate. Citrus and fruity hops with a caramel-like sweetness behind from Sierra's standard malts. Finish is slightly, but not overpoweringly, bitter.
When I buy a fresh hop ale, I want it to be the pinnacle of hop flavors. The should be deep, fairly obvious, bursting with flavor almost like biting into the fruit itself. This beer is none of those. If you want a real fresh hop IPA, buy a Stone Enjoy By. There's nothing special about this beer other than an enticing label and higher price tag.
If this were marketed as a Pale Ale, it would be a tremendous standard pale ale. but it is neither an IPA not a fresh hopped anything.
