This next entry in the Field Trials series explores one of our favorite styles from the British Isles: Scotch ale. The recipe employs a broad array of crystal malts to create a layered flavor profile that blends caramel, leather, and nutty notes with the crisp apple/pear from the ale fermentation.

Hoppy ale with notable caramel, but this screams IPA more than scotch ale. If I were really banking on the style I’d be disappointed.
